The People's Bank South Emsland eG is a cooperative bank based in Spelle in Lower Saxony in the southern district Emsland. In addition to the main office in Spelle, the bank has further branches in Andervenne , Beesten , Emsbüren , Freren , Lengerich (Emsland) , Lünne , Messingen , Salzbergen , Schapen , Shell , Thuine and Wettrup . The bank sees itself as a regional all-round financial service provider and has more than 40,000 private customers, corporate customers and agricultural customers, of which almost 16,000 customers are members and thus shareholders of Volksbank Süd-Emsland eG (as of 12/2015).
history
Volksbank Süd-Emsland eG was created in 1998 through the merger of Volksbank Emsbüren eG and Volksbank Salzbergen eG. Further mergers with Volksbank Spelle-Freren eG in 2008 and Volksbank Lengerich eG in 2010 led to today's business area, which essentially comprises the municipalities of Freren, Lengerich and Spelle as well as the municipalities of Emsbüren and Salzbergen (see graphic “Family tree of Volksbank Süd-Emsland eG ", right).
social commitment
Part of the social activities is an annual distribution of the net income from the VR profit saving and the bank's own donations totaling over € 60,000. This supports regionally active and non-profit associations and institutions in the implementation of sustainably effective projects.
In addition, there are cooperations with schools in the business area. The content of the cooperation is, for example, the regular implementation of comprehensive application training and the provision of internships. The assumption of sponsorships for the establishment of student cooperatives was newly included , as in 2012 at the Oberschule in Spelle for the student company "School Stuff".
The “Foundation of Volksbank Lengerich” was established in 2007 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Volksbank Lengerich eG, three years before the merger with Volksbank Süd-Emsland eG. This regional foundation focuses on projects in the Lengerich community and uses the foundation's income and incoming donations exclusively and directly for charitable purposes in the region.
education
As of 2019, Volksbank Süd-Emsland eG is training a total of 14 young people. The training concludes with the IHK examination for bank clerks . In addition to the practical training part, which is carried out in all areas of the bank, theoretical knowledge is imparted at the vocational school in Lingen and the Weser-Ems cooperative academy in Rastede.
