Vrådal is a town in the municipality of Kviteseid in the county of Vestfold og Telemark in southern Norway . The place has about 215 inhabitants (January 1, 2012) .
Surname
The name probably comes from the Old Norse «vrá / ró», which means «corner / calm» and was often used for farms that were a bit remote. But it is also possible that the place got the name because the valley makes a curve, so it is crooked.

Vrådal lies at the point where the Vråvatn flows into the Nisser . The deepest point of the place is about 250 moh. (the water level of the Nisser, which is regulated and fluctuates slightly). The highest mountain is the eastern summit of Roholtsfjell which is at 1018 moh. About 4 km from the center of the village is the Vrådal Church (Vrådal kirke), a wooden church that was built around 1866 and offers space for about 250 people. At the west end of Vråvatn there is the small town Vråliosen, which belongs to Vrådal.
Economy and Infrastructure

Fylkesvei 38 leads in the north via Dalen to Åmot and in the south via Drangedal to Kragerø . The Riksvei 41, which is also called Telemarksvegen because it runs from north to south through the entire former province of Telemark , goes in the north to Brunkeberg and in the south to Kristiansand .

Tourism is an important industry in both the summer and winter months. The tourist office is located in the center of Vrådal.
Vrådal has many tourist facilities including:
- A ski center with six lifts and 15 trails in which there is a downhill park in summer.
- The veteran ship MS Fram operates on the two lakes
- Hiking network of 80 kilometers, which leads to 900 to 1040 meter high mountain peaks
- Nordic walking network of 20 kilometers
- Moose and beaver safaris
- 9-hole golf course on the island of Fossøy in Lake Nisser.

There is a kindergarten and a primary school in Vrådal.

At the western end of Vråvatn there is a small hydroelectric power station called Osen kraftverk. It was built in 1954 and has an output of 16 MW and an annual production of around 67 GW.

At the small lock there is a lock museum, in which the history of the locks and waters, as well as the rafting of tree trunks in earlier times is reported. There is also information about tourism along Vråvatn and Nisser from the middle of the 19th century.
Cultural monuments
Roholt kyrkjegaard is a now protected medieval cemetery on the site of the old Vrådal church. Today you can still see a cemetery wall, some gravestones and crosses.
