Wójtowa Wieś (German: Richtersdorf ) is a district of Gliwice (Gleiwitz). Wójtowa Wieś is located in the southwest of the city and has about 8000 inhabitants. The Ostroppka and Röhrgraben flow through Wójtowa Wieś .

The place originated in the 13th century at the latest and was first mentioned in a document in 1286. In 1294 it was mentioned as Villa advocati . The place was a clearly structured single-line forest hoof village. In 1534 it was mentioned as Vogtsdorf . The Röhrkasten in Gleiwitz was supplied with water from the Röhrgraben from Richtersdorf since 1531 .

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage describing Silesia as a Richtersdorf , was in the Tost district and had 385 inhabitants, 41 farmers, eight gardeners and three cottagers. In 1818 the place was mentioned as Richtersdorf . The Catholic school has existed since 1803, was given a massive building in 1824 and was expanded in 1855. In 1865 Richtersdorf had 50 farms, seven gardeners and 51 cottagers, as well as two brick factories. At that time, 160 children were being taught at the school.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 775 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 1179 for membership of Poland. Richtersdorf remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . In 1925 the construction of the Antoniuskirche began , which was completed in 1927. In 1927 Richtersdorf was incorporated into Gleiwitz by the Tost-Gleiwitz district . In 1937 the regular Easter riding took place in Richtersdorf for the last time.

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Wójtowa Wieś . In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place became part of the new Silesian Voivodeship.

Buildings and sights

  • The Antoniuskirche is a Roman Catholic church that was built in the modern style with references to the neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic. The church tower is 67 meters high and has a viewing platform. Construction began on June 30, 1925, and the church was completed in 1927.
  • Monument to the fallen by Hanns Breitenbach with a sculpture of St. George for the fallen soldiers of the First World War.
