Wümme cycle path

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wümme-Radweg is a long-distance cycle path in Lower Saxony and Bremen that connects Bremen with the Lüneburg Heath and roughly follows the Wümme River . It consists of two strands on a north and a south route, which can be combined as required. Both routes, the north and south, start in the heath town of Wilsede . To the west of Lilienthal , the south route runs on the dikes of the rivers Wümme and Lesum , the north route to the mouth of the Wümme directly behind the dike. East of Lilienthal, both routes are mostly far from the river. You can also switch between the north and south routes through various median strips.

North route

The northern route is 127 km long and leads north of the Wümme through the towns of Undeloh , Handeloh , Otter , Lauenbrück , Scheeßel , Rotenburg , Sottrum , Ottersberg , Fischerhude , Lilienthal and Ritterhude and ends in Bremen-Vegesack .

South route

The southern route is 137 km long and leads south of the Wümme through Schneverdingen , Fintel , Scheeßel , Rotenburg , Ahausen , Hellwege , Bassen , Oyten , Bremen-Oberneuland , Bremen-Borgfeld and Bremen-Burg .
