WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship was a short-lived wrestling title issued by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). As with all wrestling titles, they were awarded within a storyline .

In the last days of WCW Championship Wrestling a new title was decided. The planning for this began in February 2001. Since the so-called cruiserweights were very popular at that time, a cruiserweight tag team title was introduced, which was awarded in a tournament.

The quarterfinals were recorded on February 26, 2001 in New Orleans , Louisiana and on March 5, 2001 in Greenville , South Carolina and on WCW Monday Nitro (February 26, 2001 and March 5, 2001) and WCW Thunder (February 28, 2001 and March 7, 2001).
The semifinals were recorded on March 12, 2001 in Knoxville , Tennessee and aired on WCW Monday Nitro on March 12, 2001 and on WCW Thunder on March 14.
The final took place on March 18, 2001 as part of the pay-per-view WCW Greed in Jacksonville , Florida between Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo versus Billy Kidman & Rey Mysterio. The first champions were Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo.

The last broadcast of WCW Monday Nitro took place on March 26, 2001, in which the title was defended again. Skipper and Romero competed against The Filthy Animals (Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Billy Kidman). In this last match, The Filthy Animals were able to win the title and thus became second and last champions. Towards the end of the show, Shane McMahon stated that he bought the promotion to rebel against his father. In fact, the World Wrestling Federation bought the rights to the WCW. In addition to other titles, the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship was also abolished.
