doping

In 2000 he was banned for two years for a doping offense .

In 2008, he came in second at the Beijing Olympics . In December, the IOC dismissed him from the silver medal after testing positive for testosterone in the local doping control . Dzewjatouski, who would have been banned for life as a repeat offender, appealed against this decision to the International Court of Sport (CAS), which overturned his disqualification in June 2010 because of a breakdown in the laboratory that analyzed the samples. IOC Vice President Thomas Bach announced that the IOC would conduct another analysis to overturn the CAS ruling.

In 2013, a subsequent analysis using more modern methods found that his doping test from the World Championships in Helsinki 2005 was also positive. The silver medal won there was revoked.
