The electoral district of Galicia 18 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land of Galicia . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .

history

After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency of Galicia 18 included the cities of Biała (Biala) , Żywiec (Saybusch) Kęty , Wadowice and Andrychów (Andrichau) .

From the Imperial Council election in 1907 was Stanisław Łazarski , lawyer, lawyer and member of the Galician parliament from Jeleśnia , a Democratic candidate, the winner. His opponents were the conservative Wilhelm Binder , a lawyer from Kraków , the socialist Ludwik Gumplowicz from Kraków, and Baltazar Bogucki, an artisan from Żywiec from Stanisław Stojałowski's party .

Stanisław Łazarski won again in the 1911 Reichsrat election. His opponent was Stankiewicz, a poorly known socialist railroad worker from Bielitz.
