Stanisław Stojałowski (born May 14, 1845 in Zniesienie (suburb of Lemberg ), Austrian Empire ; † October 23, 1911 in Krakow , Austria-Hungary ) was a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman and politician of the peasant movement, member of the Galician Landtag of the VIII. and IX. Life

Stojałowski came from an impoverished aristocratic family. He attended schools in Buczacz and Przemyśl , then the grammar school in Lviv , after graduating from high school in 1863 the Jesuit novitiate in Stara Wieś near Brzozów and 1867-1870 the Jesuit college in Cracow, where he was ordained a priest. 1872–1873 he continued his studies at the Jesuit college in Drongen near Gent ( Belgium ).

His ideas brought him into conflict with the conservative politicians in Galicia . In 1878 he founded the "Towarzystwo Oświaty Ludowej" (Society for Public Enlightenment). In 1880 he became pastor in Kulików . As a radical politician, he lost his civil rights in 1888 and was suspended as a priest.

From 1891 he worked in Cieszyn , from 1892 in Čadca . In 1893 he founded the Polish peasant party "Związek Stronnictwa Chłopskiego" and in 1896 the Christian people's party "Stronnictwo Chrześcijańsko-Ludowe". Stojałowski was excommunicated in 1896 and forced to retract his anti-clerical articles. As a result, the excommunication was lifted in 1897. In 1899 he came to Bielsko-Biała . In 1900 he was elected to the Galician Landtag and in 1901 to the House of Representatives.
