Elections in Uruguay in 1984

The elections in Uruguay in 1984 took place on Sunday, November 25, 1984.

The Partido Colorado emerged victorious from the presidential and parliamentary elections that took place at the same time . In the elections, the electoral system of which was based on the relative majority in the so-called Lema system , the president and vice-president as well as the 99 deputies and 30 senators were elected by proportional representation for a term of five years.

The mandates in the Chamber of Deputies were thus divided as follows:

  • Partido Colorado (41)
  • Partido Nacional (35)
  • Partido Demócrata Cristiano (21)
  • Partido Unión Cívica (2)

The Senate mandates in the Cámara de Senadores were thus divided as follows:

  • Partido Colorado (13)
  • Partido Nacional (11)
  • Partido Demócrata Cristiano (6)
