Elections in Uruguay in 1994

The 1994 presidential and parliamentary elections in Uruguay took place on Sunday, November 27, 1989 .

From the government and parliamentary elections that took place at the same time, the Partido Colorado emerged victorious by a narrow margin over the Partido Nacional and Frente Amplio . In the elections, the electoral system of which was based on the relative majority in the so-called Lema system , the president and vice-president as well as the 99 deputies and 30 senators were elected by proportional representation for a term of five years.

The seats in the Chamber of Deputies were divided as follows:

• Partido Colorado (32)
• Partido Nacional (31)
• Partido Frente Amplio (31)
• Partido del Nuevo Espacio (5)

The Senate mandates in the Cámara de Senadores were divided as follows:

• Partido Colorado (10)
• Partido Nacional (10)
• Partido Frente Amplio (9)
• Partido del Nuevo Espacio (1)
