Primaries for the 2014 presidential election in Uruguay

The Uruguay 2014 presidential primaries were conducted by the Uruguayan parties to determine nationwide candidates for the 2014 Uruguay presidential election .

They took place on Sunday June 1st, 2014. Each party is a nationwide election in which delegates are elected who will then decide on the candidate at a national party convention.

The primaries will also decide on the candidates for the 2015 local elections .

Candidates

Front Amplio

• Tabaré Vázquez (winner), doctor and president from 2005 to 2010
• Constanza Moreira , sociologist

Partido Nacional

• Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou (winner), lawyer and MP, son of former President Luis Alberto Lacalle
• Jorge Larrañaga , lawyer and senator
• Álvaro Germano , lawyer
• Alfredo Oliú , civil servant

Partido Colorado

• Pedro Bordaberry (winner), lawyer and senator, son of former President Juan María Bordaberry
• José Amorín Batlle , lawyer and senator
• Manuel Flores Silva , lecturer

Partido Independiente

• Pablo Mieres , lawyer, sociologist and professor

Smaller parties

Other smaller parties will also attend. You need at least 500 votes.

• Partido de la Concertación: José Luis Vega
• Partido de los Trabajadores: Rafael Fernández
• Partido Ecologista Radical Intransigente: César Vega
