Local elections in Uruguay 2000

The local elections in Uruguay in 2000 took place on 14 May. The Intendentes of the 19 departments of Uruguay were elected for a five-year term .

Results

Distribution of the departments obtained:
  • Partido Nacional
  • Partido Colorado
  • Front Amplio
  • In the thirteen departments of Cerro Largo, Colonia, Durazno, Flores, Florida, Lavalleja, Maldonado, Paysandú, Rocha, San José, Soriano, Tacuarembó and Treinta y Tres, the candidate of the Partido Nacional won , while in the five departments of Artigas, Canelones, Río Negro, Rivera and Salto the Partido Colorado could decide the choice in their favor. In the Montevideo department , the Frente Amplio emerged victorious from the elections.
