action

Fielding Pierce is a United States Coast Guard officer in the early 1970s . In 1972 he met the socially committed Sarah Williams, with whom he fell in love. Two years later she dies in a bomb attack that affects two Chilean politicians in exile, whom she supervises , who sit with her in the car and are also killed. Pierce is left in deep despair.

Eight years later, Pierce is a member of the United States House of Representatives . Williams lives on in his visions. He follows her shadow several times, half desperate, half manic, and thereby endangers his political career. There is - in his mind - a final encounter between the two. Then he is ready to let go of her.

The Lexicon of International Films wrote that the film was a " largely convincing, well-acted political drama " that was as much about love as " about the question of whether political changes in committees and parliaments or through public pressure will be achieved " . “ The question of what remains when ideals are lost ” would also be addressed .
