Walchow is a district of the municipality of Fehrbellin in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the state of Brandenburg . The street village has a size of 7.7 km², in October 2009 191 inhabitants lived here.

geography

Walchow is 4.5 kilometers north of Fehrbellin. The district is located in the north of the Rhinluches .

history

In the area of ​​Walchow finds from the Mesolithic and the Bronze Age have been found. Traces of a Slavic settlement were found in a sand pit 800 meters to the east. The place was first mentioned in documents in 1445. Around 1490 Walchow was part of the Ruppin rule, which was essentially imperial, under the rule of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin . In 1638 the village was completely burned down during the Thirty Years War. In 1699 all farms were settled again by Dutch and Palatinate people. From 1992 Walchow belonged to the Fehrbellin office , since 2003 Walchow has been a district of Fehrbellin.

In 1952 the LPG type III "Ernst Thälmann" was founded.

The village church was built in 1851/1852. It is a neo-Gothic brick building with a west tower. The church is a hall building, in the east there is an apse and a stepped gable. The interior is from the construction period. The Hölsche-Zerahn grave is located in the cemetery. The tomb was built in 1868.

The house and the stable building at Dorfstraße 11 are part of a former four-sided courtyard. The residential building is a single-storey, eaves-standing house with a gable roof. The entrance is in the middle of seven axes. The stable building was built at the end of the 19th century.

The homestead at Dorfstrasse 15 was built in the second half of the 19th century. It used to be a four-sided courtyard. It is a single-storey, eaves-standing building with seven axes. In the middle axis is the former entrance, it is now walled up.
