Rectory

Not far from the A 24 is the place in the Ruppiner Land , between Fehrbellin and the Ruppiner See.

In his hikes through the Mark Brandenburg , Theodor Fontane describes this country as “one of the quiet ones in our province, the railroad barely touches it, and the major roads just run to its border; but the quietest part of this quiet land is the east bank of the beautiful lake which forms the center of our county and which takes its name from it. There are no people passing through here, and everyone you meet is at home here; no traffic other than that between the villages ... "

history

The place was first mentioned in 1291 as "Villa Langen". The name means "place in swampy terrain", which is due to the proximity to the Rhinluch . Around 1490, Langen was part of the Ruppin rule, which was essentially imperial, under the rule of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin .

The von Zieten zu Wildberg and Langen family owned a knight's seat here until 1687 . In 1638 imperial troops burned down the village including Zieten's knight seat. In 1665 the church and part of the village burned down.

From the second half of the 18th century, the von der Hagen estate had expanded the village. Thanks to peat mining since the end of the 18th century, Langen experienced an economic boom. In 1858 the community had 650 inhabitants. During this time the stately new building of the village church was built.

After the Second World War , the area was divided among 57 settlers. In 1958 the LPG "Glückauf" was founded. 1960 then another LPG, as well as the VEG Langen / Zietenhorst with 539 hectares of usable area.

Today Langen presents itself as a wide street village with loosely lined up courtyards. The historical core is concentrated around the area of the church, the rectory and the former manor house in the middle of the village.

Langen was incorporated into Fehrbellin on October 26, 2003.
