Valery Ivanov ( Russian Валерий Иванов ; born September 28, 1969 in Makinsk ) is a former Kazakh biathlete .

Valery Ivanov lives in Makinsk and started for the CSKA army club . The soldier, who is married to Inna Scheschkil , began biathlon in 1985. Since the mid-1990s he took part in races of the biathlon world cup . The first highlight was the 1995 biathlon world championships in Antholz . The Kazakh was 30th of the individual, 25th of the sprint and with Dmitri Pantow , Aleksandr Menshchikov and Dmitri Posdnjakow as the starting runner 15th with the relay. The next major event was the 1996 Asian Winter Games in Harbin , where Ivanov won the individual title. In addition, he secured another title in the relay race together with Sergei Abdukarow , Michail Lepjoschkin and Pantow. In addition, he was second behind Pantow in the sprint. In 1998 the second participation in biathlon world championships followed in Osrblie . In the individual he came in 44th place, was with Pantow, Serguei Abdoukarov and Posdnjakow 18th in the relay race and with these three also eleventh in the team competition. In his last international season 1997/98 he achieved his best World Cup result in a sprint in Ruhpolding with tenth place. The final highlight and end of his career were the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . Ivanov was used in all three possible races. In the individual he was 52nd in the sprint 31st and with Pantow, Posdnjakow and Menshikov 16th with the relay.
