Walter Pflaumbaum (born September 19, 1891 in Wollenhagen ; † November 3, 1974 in Bad Bevensen ) was a German agricultural scientist , farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending the village school and secondary school in Gardelegen and the upper secondary school in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel , Pflaumbaum studied agriculture in Munich and Halle . From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a volunteer and was most recently battery leader. During the war he was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class .

After the end of the war, Pflaumbaum continued his studies, which he finished with a doctorate in 1919. He then took up a job in livestock farming and was head of animal breeding in the Altmark at the Saxony-Anhalt Chamber of Agriculture . From 1924 he was director of the Mittelweser Herdbook Society, became head of animal breeding and dairy farming at the Rhineland Chamber of Agriculture in 1928 and was chairman of the main association of the German cattle industry from 1934. He also worked as a practical farmer from 1935. From 1935 to 1945 he was chairman of the Reich Office for Animals . In addition to this function, he was also Reich Commissioner. On May 1, 1933, he joined the NSDAP ( membership number 3.144.293), on February 22, 1939 he was accepted into the SA with the rank of Sturmhauptführer .

After the Second World War , Pflaumbaum moved to Lower Saxony and worked there in the food industry from 1945 to 1947. He then worked as a practical farmer in Bevensen . In addition, he was chairman of the district association of the rural people in Uelzen and chairman of the German Potato Industry Promotion Association.

Pflaumbaum was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from May 6, 1955 to October 19, 1957 in the third electoral term . In the state parliament he belonged from May 9, 1955 to the DP / CDU parliamentary group. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965. He was elected to parliament in both electoral terms through a direct mandate in the constituency of Uelzen .
