Walter Prescher van Ed

Walter Prescher van Ed (born April 6, 1916 in Dresden , † April 11, 1988 in Ottendorf-Okrilla ) was a German painter .

He studied at the Dresden Art Academy , where he was a student of Ewald Karl Max Enderlein and Paul Rößler . In 1948 he received the title of professor at the Academy of Arts in Berlin and then became a full professor at the Dresden Art Academy . In 1961 he was a visiting professor at the University of Fine Arts in Nancy . Prescher van Ed was an honorary citizen of Montmartre .

Paris , Prague and Dresden were among the focal points of his life. He was a cosmopolitan who felt most at home in his adopted home of Paris. In Prague he met Oskar Kokoschka , whose master class he was and who helped him achieve his breakthrough. In Paris he had close friendships with great artists, whose pupils he was and whom he also painted. a. Fernand Léger , Jacques Villon , Maurice Utrillo , Jean Cocteau , Karel Appel .
