Walter Zimmermann

Walter Zimmermann (born April 9, 1941 in Passau ) is a German lawyer.

Life

Zimmermann was born in Passau in 1941 . After graduating from high school in Passau , he studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1960 to 1964 , where he passed the legal clerkship in 1965. He spent his legal traineeship from 1965 to 1968 in Passau, Landshut and Regensburg. In 1966 Zimmermann received his doctorate on "The active party ability of unlawful associations in civil proceedings" at the University of Munich under Rolf Dietz . From 1966 to 1968 he worked as an OLG-appointed representative at a lawyer in Passau. Then Zimmermann was a court assessor (from 1968), public prosecutor (1970) and district judge (from 1971) at the district court of Passau . In 1979 he became a judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court , in 1983 he became the presiding judge at the Passau Regional Court and in 1993 he was Vice President of the Passau Regional Court.

In addition to his legal career , Zimmermann is active in legal training and further training. From 1972 to 2000 he was head of trainee law groups (8 of them full-time). From 1979 to 2009 he was examiner for the First State Examination in Law. Since 1979 he has been a lecturer at the Universities of Regensburg and Passau . Zimmermann was appointed honorary professor at the University of Regensburg in 1992. He has also been an honorary member of the Law Faculty of the University of Passau since 2003. In 2015 he was awarded the "AGT Prize for Outstanding Scientific Achievements in the Field of the Execution of Wills" from the Working Group on Executing Wills and Assets Care eV (AGT) . In 2016 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the law faculty of the University of Passau .

The approx. 380 publications by Zimmermann deal with inheritance law , civil procedure law , voluntary jurisdiction , guardianship law , guardianship law, public law housing law, costs and bankruptcy law . These are books, essays, judgment notes, and book reviews.

Zimmermann has been retired since May 2006 and lives in Passau.
