Walton "Glenn" Eller (born January 6, 1982 in Houston ) is an American sports shooter . His greatest success so far is winning the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing in a double trap .

Career

For several years Walton Eller has been one of the best athletes in double trap . In this discipline he won several titles and medals. His first major success on an international level was second place at the ISSF World Championships in Lahti in 2002 . A year later he won in Nicosia with 192 points, making it the third American double trap world champion since it was first held in 1989. For the first time, Eller took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . There he could not qualify for the final and was 17th. In 2005 and 2007 Walton Eller was World Cup winner, at the 2007 World Cup, again in Nicosia, but again only managed 17th place. At the 2008 Olympics he started in double trap for the second time, but this time he made it to the finals and won in the field of six in front of the Italian Francesco D'Aniello and Hu Binyuan from the host country China. He won the seventh gold medal in these games for his country.

Eller is also a specialist in the United States Army . He is a member of the Army Marksmanship Unit based at Fort Benning .
