Waltraud Goffitzer-Thalhammer also Waltraud Thalhammer, later Waltraud Praschak-Thalhammer (born December 23, 1942 in Steyr ) is an Austrian graphic designer , ceramist , textile artist and university teacher .

Live and act

Waltraud Thalhammer studied from 1959 to 1963 at the Art School of the City of Linz the tray Free Graphics at Alfons Ortner , and from 1963 to 1964 advertising art .

From 1964 to 1970 she stayed in Denmark, married the ceramist Günter Praschak and made screen-printed designs for ceramic series. After her return to Austria in 1970, Praschak-Thalhammer intensified her occupation with ceramics, especially glaze techniques . From 1973 she turned to textile wall design . From 1983 she dealt intensively with old painting techniques, such as ( casein and egg tempera ).

In 1974 she became a member of the artists' association MAERZ and from 1976 to 1999 she was a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien . From 1980 to 1997 she was a lecturer for color theory and product design at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz .

The artist married (after her divorce (1988) from Günter Praschak ) in 1990 with the architect and Linz university professor Friedrich Goffitzer , with whom she was married until his death in 2010. In 2015 she handed over Goffitzer's estate to the Catholic Private University Linz .
