WarioWare (sometimes also written Wario Ware ; in Japan made in wario , jap.メ イ ド イ ン ワ リ オmeido in wario ) is a video game series, the titles of which summarize numerous games of skill , each with time limits in the seconds range. The first title, Minigame Mania, was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance portable console . Background stories about the eponymous Nintendo character Wario as a video game producer embed the individual games. Typical tasks are e.g. B. tickling a (virtual) person or avoiding a rolling object. The DIY part , published in 2009 , contains not only the games collection but also functions that enable you to create your own micro-games without a programming language.
Game mechanics
The game mechanics are mainly based on so-called micro-games . The player has to solve dozen of tasks in a row, each lasting about five seconds. If he does not solve the task within the time limit, one of the four attempts at the beginning will be deducted. Should the player come across a boss mini-game (which has the duration of a normal mini-game ) after a certain amount of microgames and win it, he will be granted an additional try, the limit being four attempts. In between, the speed and difficulty of the tasks increases so that the pressure builds up and the player is forced to be even faster (which is the core of the game, however).

WarioWare, Inc .: Minigame Mania
WarioWare, Inc .: Minigame Mania is the first game in the WarioWare series. You play through 180 microgames, mostly lasting 5 seconds. When Wario saw on a TV show how successful you can be in the video game industry, he decided to get into it. He buys a laptop of the brand "Wario" (the logo of this computer company is supposed to remind of the "Vaio logo" of the Sony company) and Wario's house promptly becomes the company building of Wario Ware: Inc. Wario is now trying to program a game , but has no ideas and falls asleep. Then he got the idea to let his friends program.
WarioWare, Inc .: Minigame Mania was released on December 16, 2011 in the eShop of the Nintendo 3DS mobile console , where it can be downloaded free of charge for first-time buyers as part of the so-called ambassador program . First-time buyers will be compensated because of the sharp price reduction of the handheld in mid-August 2011 by providing them with 20 NES and GBA games free of charge.
WarioWare: Touched!
The third part of the series, WarioWare: Touched! , like its predecessors, consists of 180 short micro-games that you have to solve using the touchscreen and microphone. For example, you have to help a penguin across the polar sea by arranging ice floes to form a bridge. In the game, certain actions are assigned to a character:
- Wario: Tap
- Mona: scratching
- Jimmy: Scratch
- Kat & Ana: Painting
- Ashley: Pull
- Dr.Crygor: Turning
- Mike: Blow (microphone)
- 9 volt & 18 volt: retro games
In addition to the normal game, in which you play the random mini-games of a character, there is also the album mode, in which you can play a certain mini-game, and the toy mode, in which you can use previously unlocked rewards. These rewards can for example be a virtual metronome , a ping-pong game or a parrot that repeats everything after you.
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
The Wii game WarioWare: Smooth Moves consists of more than 200 micro-games, most of which are presented by characters known from its predecessors. Only Penny and Young Cricket have been added . The individual games must first be unlocked in an action mode and can then be selected permanently.
It is controlled via the Wii Remote , which is referred to here as the 'shape wand'. Each task is subordinated to one of a total of 19 forms that specify the movement to be performed. For example, the remote control must be held over the head in the case of "the mohawk" or balanced on the palm of "the waiter". Various Nintendo heroes also appear in the mini-games , including a. Link ( The Legend of Zelda ), the Nintendogs, and a character from Animal Crossing .
WarioWare: Snapped!
The DSiWare game WarioWare: Snapped! consists of 20 micro-games that are all controlled with the Nintendo DSi camera . During the game you only see black outlines of the camera image so that you can control the game. However, the device records the images and at the end provides them with various "funny" effects.
The game is only available from the DSi Shop and costs 500 Nintendo Points (≈5 €) there.
WarioWare: DIY
WarioWare: DIY (Do It Yourself) was released on April 19, 2010 in Europe for Nintendo DS devices . The game contains 90 simple micro-games. The specialty is that you can now create microgames yourself. You can also draw comics (4 pictures) and compose pieces of music (80 4/4 bars). These can be published via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and thus offered to other players for download. With the additionally available WarioWare: DIY Showcase software , the DS software can be connected to a Nintendo Wii .
