action

Hillary Kramer (played by Barbra Streisand ) is a perfume entrepreneur. One of their employees embezzles the company money and moves to South America. Kramer remains a contract with the professional boxer Eddie Scanlon, who should bring in income.

Kramer and Scanlon begin a relationship. They later argue and decide to focus on business. The contract is to be terminated after an important battle has been won.

A fight ensues in which Scanlon leads. Kramer suddenly throws in the towel, which is the sign of surrender. Scanlon's opponent is declared the winner. Kramer and Scanlon kiss.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of June 26, 1979 that the film neither had the " life " nor was it " casualty " enough, as screwball comedy demands. The situations are " calculated ", the chemistry between Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal is wrong. The character played by Barbra Streisand is too much in the center.

The lexicon of international films wrote that the production was " clumsy ", the comedy and wit of the dialogues were " poor ".

Awards

The song The Main Event won the People's Choice Award in 1980 and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award .
