Vasil Kapzjuch ( Belarusian Васіль Капцюх , Eng. Transcription Vasil Kaptsyukh, often Russian Василий Борисович Каптюх - Vasily Borisovich Kaptjuch - Vasiliy Kaptyukh * 27. June 1967 in maladzyechna ) is a former Belarusian discus thrower .

He finished third in the 1986 World Junior Athletics Championships in Athens . At the European Championships in Split in 1990 , he narrowly missed a medal in fourth. At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , he qualified for the final, but could not start there due to an injury.

Two years later he finished seventh at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 . At the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 , he finally managed to win the bronze medal. With 65.88 m he only had to admit defeat to the favorite from Germany, Lars Riedel , and his compatriot Uladsimir Dubrouschtschyk . A year later, Kapzjuch won another bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He threw the discus at 65.80 m, only Riedel and Dubrouschtschyk were in front of him again.

After an eleventh place at the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , he was fourth at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. At the World Athletics Championships in 2001 in Edmonton, he finished sixth, at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis, he was able to win a bronze medal again. With 66.51 m he was well behind the Lithuanian Virgilijus Alekna and Róbert Fazekas from Hungary, but was able to relegate the reigning world champion Lars Riedel to fourth place.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he finished fourth, just like four years earlier in Sydney. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he failed in the qualifying round.

Wassil Kapzjuch is 1.97 m tall and weighed 120 kg when he was active.
