Vasyl Mykolaiowytsch Remeslo (* January 28 jul. / 10. February 1907 greg. In Tepliwka , Poltava Governorate , Russian Empire ; † 4. September 1983 in Myronivka , Ukrainian SSR ) was a Ukrainian- Soviet agronomists in the field of plant breeding , particularly of wheat - seeds .
Life
Vasyl Remeslo arrived in the village Tepliwka in today's Rajon Pyriatyn the Ukrainian Poltava to the world. Between 1922 and 1924 he was a student at the Lubensk Agricultural School. From 1924 he attended the Masliwka Institute of selection and seed production ( Маслівський інститут селекції та насінництва ім. К.А. Тімірязєва ) in Masliwka , Kiev Oblast , where he graduated in 1928 and then worked as a seed agronomist at various farms in Ukraine.
From 1933 to 1937 he was a senior scientist at the Novourenskoji breeding and research station in what is now Ulyanovsk . During the German-Soviet War he was a soldier in the Red Army .
From 1938 to 1942 and 1947/48 he was director of science at the North Donetsk State Breeding Station. From 1964 he was director of the Myroniwka Selection Research Station and from 1968 he was director of the Myroniwka Institute for the Selection and Seedlings of Wheat. He developed selection methods that made it possible to grow numerous types of wheat.
Remeslo was a member of the Soviet Academy of Agricultural Sciences from 1964 and a member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR from 1974 .
Remeslo had been a member of the CPSU since 1942 , later became a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the USSR and was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine from 1966 .
He died in Myroniwka at the age of 76 and was buried in the Baikowe cemetery in Kiev .

- Honored Scientist of the Ukrainian SSR. 1976
On the occasion of the 110th birthday of Vasyl Remeslo in 2017, the Ukrainian National Bank issued a two hryvnia silver commemorative coin with his portrait as part of the series of outstanding personalities of Ukraine .
