Watzmann determined is a German crime series on ARD that has been broadcast on Erste since May 8, 2019 . The series was produced by Lucky Bird Pictures . The first season consisted of eight episodes.

The series is about Chief Inspector Benedikt Beissl, who lives in Berchtesgaden with his wife Elisabeth and three daughters Johanna, Maria and Eva. Before the series began, he ran his territory almost single-handedly until he got Jerry Paulsen, who moved south from Hamburg, as a new colleague. Both are supported by Max Ruffer, who, in addition to his police service, is also part of a band as a hobby musician. There are differences of opinion and minor frictions between Benedikt and Jerry not only because of his open manner and his modern investigation methods, but also because he is the friend of Beissl's daughter Johanna.

The consequences are structured in such a way that the two police commissioners have to solve a murder in the area. Often the person constellations are shaped by the fact that the locally rooted Beissl knows both the victims and their surroundings and potential perpetrators.

The Watzmann mountain , which gives the series its name , is located in the Berchtesgaden Alps and therefore in the immediate, visible vicinity of the episode's venues, and can be seen in the background in various scenes.

The first season was shot from July 17 to October 12, 2018 (56 days of shooting) in Munich and Berchtesgaden . It was broadcast on the 1st from May 8, 2019 to June 26, 2019. Filming for the second season with eight episodes began on August 6, 2019 and ended on October 29, 2019. The new episodes are to be broadcast in 2020. On June 16, 2020, filming began on a third season with 12 new episodes, which should be broadcast in spring 2021.
