We're Here Because We're Here is the eighth studio album by the British band Anathema . It was published on May 31, 2010 on Kscope . It is the first studio album after a six-year break, not counting the acoustic album Hindsight from 2008.
Origin and style
We're Here Because We're Here was produced by Vincent and Danny Cavanagh themselves and mixed by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree . It is completely recorded in Dolby 5.1, this version is available as an additional Special Edition DVD. The main lead instrument is now the piano, not the guitar as on previous albums. In Angels Walk Among Us sang Ville Valo of HIM with.
The album cover and some lyrics can be understood as a positive answer to the rather gloomy previous album A Natural Disaster .
reception
The album reached number 50 in the charts in Germany and number six in Greece. Alexey Eremenko from Allmusic awarded four out of five stars. He wrote that the band had evidently developed in the “right” direction after the long break. The album is not perfect because of the "smooth" production, but the "most mature and complex" anathema release to date.
