The white-bordered funkie ( Hosta Sieboldii after Philipp Franz von Siebold ) is a species of plant from the genus Funkia ( Hosta ) in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae).
features
The white-bordered funkie is a perennial , herbaceous plant with a rhizome and short underground runners that reach heights of growth of 20 to 30, rarely up to 50 centimeters. The petiole is not mottled purple. The leaves are broadly lanceolate, thin, measure 10 to 15 × 5 to 6 centimeters and have 3 to 4 pairs of lateral nerves. The tops of the leaves are dull, medium green, yellowish or dark green with a narrow, white border.
The flowers are purple in color and have a white border. In the 'Alba' variety, they are completely white.
The flowering time is in July and August.
Occurrence
The white-bordered funkia occurs from Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands to Japan , where it probably grows in mountain forests.

The white-bordered hosta is widely used as a ground covering ornamental plant. It has been in culture since 1830 at the latest. There are few varieties.
