Occurrence

In Central Europe , willow-leaved milkweed is only found in a few areas. In Germany only an isolated occurrence near Regensburg is known. It is rare in the Czech Republic . In Austria it is only part of the Pannonian flora : in Lower Austria and Burgenland it is rare. The distribution area extends from eastern Central Europe to Southeastern Europe and Ukraine.

The Willowleaf spurge thrives on calcareous , moderately dry, unconsolidated humic loam soils . It populates the edges of bushes and forests, but also grows on rain areas, on fences and field edges and is possibly a species of the Origanetalia order in Central Europe.
