Manfred Tement winery
The Manfred Tement winery in Berghausen , part of the municipality of Ehrenhausen an der Weinstrasse , is an Austrian winery in the southern Styria wine-growing region .
The winery
The winery, founded in 1962, has been managed by Manfred Tement since 1979. Meanwhile, his son Armin Tement is mainly responsible for the vineyards and the cellar. The winery is regarded as the leading company for viticulture in the whole of Styria and is a member of the Styrian terroir and classic wineries .
Vineyards and wines
The vineyard area is 85 hectares (as of 2015), 97 percent of which are planted with white grape varieties, mainly Welschriesling , Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon . Sauvignon Blanc now dominates 60% of the vineyards. The most famous wines are the Sauvignon Blancs and Morillons from the Zieregg , Sernau and Grassnitzberg sites . Other white grape varieties are Pinot Blanc , Pinot Gris , Gelber Muskateller and Gewürztraminer . The grape varieties Zweigelt , Blaufränkisch and Blauer Wildbacher are used to expand the rosé and red wines .
The most important vineyard location of the winery is the Riede Zieregg. Part of the Zieregg location is across the border in Slovenia ; there a subsidiary winery called "Domaine Ciringa" was founded with 20 hectares of vineyards.
