Markus Hafner winery

The Markus Hafner winery is a self- marketing winery in the second generation. The winery is located in Ubstadt-Weiher in the district of Zeutern in the Baden wine-growing region in the Kraichgau area . The estate produces white and red wines on ten hectares of vineyards , mainly Riesling , Pinot Noir and white Burgundy varieties. Markus Hafner produces strongly reduced yield wines in his six hectare growing area , is a member of the Badischer Weinbauverband and Badischen Wein GmbH and promoter of Slow Food Germany.

Sites and grape varieties

The winery produces Riesling , Müller-Thurgau , Chardonnay , White Burgundy , Gray Burgundy , Ruländer, Muscatel and Gewürztraminer . The winery is known for its Kraichgau Auxerrois specialty and a Badisch Rotgold wine specialty reserved for Baden alone . In addition, Pinot Noir , Pinot Meunier , Merlot , Cabernet Mitos , Regent and the South Tyrolean grape variety Lagrein cultivated.

The vineyards in the various locations are made of keuper , slate , shell limestone and red sandstone . In many places these soils show a layer of loess or admixtures of loess. The soils that emerged from the shell limestone are clay marls or clayey limestone marls , some of which have a considerable stone content.

history

The winery was recorded in 1976 as an agricultural operation in Ubstadt-Weiher in the Stettfeld district. The founders of the winery are Hans and Helga Hafner, who have run the business since 1964, initially for their own use. Markus Hafner has been running the winery in Ubstadt-Weiher in the Zeutern district , a well-known Kraichgau wine village, since 2008 . There are sales outlets in both of these locations.The
winery organizes several events every year in certain time frames:

- Indian night with ayurvedic 5-course menu (April / May)
- Brunch at the Winzerhof (July / August)
- Wine hiking day and farm festival (last weekend in August)
- Autumn market / Kerwe (1st Sunday in November)
- Reading with 5-course menu (in December)
