Weiprecht von Gemmingen (born November 3, 1642 at Hornberg Castle ; † August 2, 1702 ) was President of the Hesse-Darmstadt government and chamber. He founded the older Franconian-Crumbach line of the Barons of Gemmingen .

Life

He was a son of Weiprecht von Gemmingen (1608–1680) from his first marriage to Anna Benedicta von Gemmingen-Fürfeld. He studied in Strasbourg and Tübingen and came to the Baden court in 1667, where he was chamberlain and councilor . In 1672 he became senior bailiff and president of the Upper County of Sponheim . In 1678, Elector Karl Ludwig appointed him to Heidelberg as court judge . That same year, the Hessian Landgrave appointed him Elisabeth Dorothea the privy , government and President of the Chamber. In the Hessian service he was also court judge at the general court in Marburg and senior magistrate in Kelsterbach . He was also a councilor of the Rhenish knight circle . In 1683 Emperor Leopold I appointed him curator of the Countesses Palatine Charlotte Sophia Elisabeth and Hedwig Eleonore Maria.

In 1688, when the inheritance of his father, who died in 1680, was divided, he acquired a farm in Oppenheim as well as the pastor 's farm and rights in Wolfskehlen . From his second marriage to Maria Dorothea von der Reck zu Horst in 1693, he also came into possession of a quarter of Fränkisch-Crumbach . There was a rift about the property there and his wife wanted to take this property away from him again, but died in an accident while starting a trip made for this reason.

In 1702 he was supposed to meet the Roman queen in the service of Hesse while she was passing through in Heidelberg, but died unexpectedly while exercising his service. He was buried in Franconian Crumbach.

Weiprecht von Gemmingen was first married to Esther Katharina Countess of Geyersberg († 1689) from 1681 and was married to Maria Dorothea von der Reck zu Horst from 1693. His descendants are all from the first marriage, the second marriage remained childless.
