World Heritage in Yemen

The world heritage in Yemen (as of 2017) includes four UNESCO world heritage sites , including three world cultural heritage sites and one world natural heritage site. Yemen ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1980, and the first World Heritage site was added to the World Heritage List in 1982. The last world heritage site in Yemen to date was registered in 2008, and all three cultural heritage sites are on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger .

The following table lists the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Yemen in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion in the World Heritage List (K - cultural heritage, N - natural heritage, K / N - mixed, (R) - on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger ).

2008 N 1263 The Socotra Archipelago is made up of four islands and two rocks that form the extension of the Horn of Africa . The archipelago is characterized by its unique biodiversity. 37 percent of the 825 plant species to be found there, 90 percent of the reptiles and 95 percent of the snails only occur on these islands. The islands are of great importance as breeding grounds for birds and as a stopover for migratory birds. The maritime biodiversity is also very high.
