World Heritage Sites in Mauritania |
The world heritage in Mauritania (as of 2017) includes two UNESCO world heritage sites , including a world cultural heritage site and a world natural heritage site. Mauritania ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1981, and the first World Heritage site was added to the World Heritage List in 1989. The last World Heritage site to date was registered in 1996.

Ouadane ( Lage ) was founded in 1147 by the Berber tribe Idalwa el-Hadji. Chinguetti ( Lage ) was also founded by a Berber tribe in the 13th century, namely the tribe of the Sandaja. Tichitt ( Lage ) was founded in 1150 . The founding of Oualata ( location ) is unknown. |

Currently (2017) three sites are entered in the tentative list of Mauritania, the last entry was made in 2001. The following table lists the sites in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion in the tentative list.
