Wendelin Franz Egon Luitwinus Maria von Boch-Galhau (born August 26, 1942 in Mettlach , Merzig-Wadern district , Saarland ), Lic.oec. ( License to teach ), is a farmer and forester , entrepreneur and shareholder and from 1998 to 2007 was the 8th generation chairman of the board of the traditional family company Villeroy & Boch AG . From 2007 to 2017 he was a member of the supervisory board, from 2009 also its chairman.

Boch comes from an old merchant family from Audun-le-Tiche in Lorraine near the Alzette -Quelle and is the son of the farmer and forester Franz Egon von Boch-Galhau (1909–1981), lord of the Linslerhof , Britten and Hausbach and partner of Family business, and the Agnes Countess of Montgelas (1914–1992).

Boch married Brigitte Engelsberger (born February 11, 1947 in Rottach-Egern) on September 11, 1976 in Rottach-Egern , the daughter of Mayor Max Engelsberger. The couple has four children. Brigitte von Boch founded a lifestyle company that operates around 14 branches in Germany and Austria.

Life

Born the fourth of seven children, Boch grew up on the Linslerhof estate near Überherrn . At the Swiss university in St. Gallen he earned a degree in business graduate .

Since 1967 he worked in the family business. Before he took over the management of tableware production in Mettlach, internships took him to Luxembourg , Hamburg , Paris and Los Angeles .

Boch has been chairman of the " Saarland Private Forest Owners Association " since 1982 . From 1993 to 1999 he was President of the German Ceramic Industry Association . In 1998, in the 250th year of the family business, he took over the chairmanship of Villeroy & Boch . On June 1, 2007, Wendelin von Boch moved to the Supervisory Board of Villeroy & Boch AG and has been chairman since May 16, 2009. His term of office as a member of the Supervisory Board ended in 2017.

It was not until 1987 that he converted the family business into a stock corporation , but the shares continued to be owned by the family. The initial public offering of preferred shares took place only three years later.
