Verkhnye Wodjane ( Ukrainian Верхнє Водяне ; Russian Верхнее Водяное Werchneje Wodjanoje , Slovak Vyšná APSA , Hungarian Felsőapsa ) is a village in the southeastern Ukrainian oblast Transcarpathians m at a height of 280-320 with about 5200 inhabitants (2004).

Verkhnye Vodyane is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the southwest of the Rajon Rakhiv , to which the northern village of Strymba ( Стримба ) with about 1,300 inhabitants belongs.

The village in Carpathian Ukraine in the historical Maramureş region was founded in the 14th century and has had various names over the years such as Felso Apsa , Apsa de Sus , Horna Apsa and, until 1946 , Wyschnja Apscha ( Вишня Апша ).

The village is located at an altitude of 280 to 320 meters on the bank of the Apschyzja ( Апшиця ), a 39 km long tributary of the Tisza . The village of Serednje Wodjane is 5 kilometers downstream and about 5 kilometers south of Verkhnye Vodjane is the urban-type Velykyj Bychkiv on the N 05 road .

The Rajon center of Rakhiv is about 40 km by road to the northeast and the Uzhhorod oblast center is about 170 km to the northwest of Verkhnye Vodyane.
