Werner Eilitz (born August 29, 1923 in Leipzig , † November 30, 1995 in Dessau ) was a German football player.

Athletic career

Werner Eilitz played for BSG Motor Stötteritz from 1946 to 1949 before moving to BSG Chemie Leipzig . With the Leutzschern he won the GDR championship in 1951 after a 2-0 playoff against Turbine Erfurt . In 1952 he was one of seven Leutzscher players who were delegated to Vorwärts Leipzig (later Vorwärts Berlin ), where he played until the end of his career in 1958. In total, he played 174 games in the GDR league and scored three goals.

In 1954 , when he was a second division team in the national cup competition that season , he and his team won the FDGB Cup . In the final , the forward team defeated BSG Motor Zwickau 2-1 in Dresden

On September 21, 1952 Werner Eilitz was on the pitch in Warsaw when the GDR national team played their first international game, which was lost 3-0 to Poland . In total, Eilitz made eight appearances in the national team by 1956 - all of them friendly matches, before the country first qualified for the World Cup in Sweden in 1957 .

Further career

After the end of his active career, Eilitz worked from 1959 to 1974 as a trainer at Vorwärts Leipzig and from 1974 to 1978 at Vorwärts Dessau . He also held various positions at the DFV - among other things as chairman of the coaching committee of the district technical committee (BFA) Leipzig from 1965 to 1975 and from 1983 to 1990 as chairman of the district technical committee (KFA) Dessau.
