Werner Greiner-Petter

Werner Greiner-Petter (born November 15, 1927 in Lauscha ; † May 9, 1986 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1972 to 1983 he was Minister for the Glass and Ceramics Industry of the GDR .

Life

The son of a glassmaker learned the trade of precision mechanic and toolmaker . In 1943 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and later drafted into the Wehrmacht . On April 20, 1944, he became a member of the NSDAP . In 1945 he was taken prisoner by the British .

After his release, he worked in a dismantling unit in Suhl in 1946 , then as a toolmaker in Suhl and Steinach in 1946/1947 . From 1947 to 1951 he worked as a glassmaker, master, planning manager and operations assistant and finally in 1951/1952 as plant manager at VEB Glaswerke Lauscha. In 1950 he joined the SED. From 1952 to 1954 he was head of the glass department in the main administration for glass and ceramics in the Ministry of Light Industry . From 1954 to 1962 he was again plant manager at VEB Glaswerke Lauscha. Between 1959 and 1963, Greiner-Petter completed a distance learning course at the Technical College for Industrial Economics in Plauen , graduating as an industrial economist.

1962/1963 he was secretary for economic policy of the SED district leadership Neuhaus am Rennweg , from 1963 head of the inspection glass / ceramics of the workers and farmers inspection (ABI). From 1964 to 1967 he studied at the party college at the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow with a degree in social science . From 1968 he worked as first deputy chairman of the committee of the workers and farmers inspection, from 1969 to 1972 as state secretary in the committee of the ABI.

From January to November 1972 he was State Secretary, from November 1972 to December 1983 Minister for the Glass and Ceramics Industry. He was recalled for health reasons and was most recently chairman of the Berlin-Treptow district committee of the people's solidarity .

Greiner-Petter was buried in the central cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde .
