Wheels India Limited is an automotive supplier based in Chennai ( India ). He is part of the TVS Group .
history
The company was founded in 1960 as a joint venture with Dunlop . In 1962 the production of truck wheels began, in 1966 (or 1965) the production of passenger car wheels. Further products were tractor wheels (from 1968) and spoked wheels (from 1982). The product range was further expanded in 1986 with air suspension (brand name Wilride ). In 1988 tubeless truck tires were added. Newer products include forged aluminum wheels (since 2004) and energy systems (since 2010).
WIL's construction machinery customers have included Hindustan Motors since 1974 and CAT since 1993 . WIL has been recognized as a supplier by Ford (2005), Maruti Suzuki (2006) and Toyota (2007), among others . Other WIL customers are Hyundai , Tata , John Deere , Komatsu , Case New Holland , Leyland , Tafe and Suzuki .
WIL has production facilities in Padi (since 1962), Rampur (since 1982), Pune (since 1997 or 1998), Bawal (since 2006), Sriperumbudur (since 2007), Pantnagar (since 2009) and Deoli (construction machinery, since 2010).
WIL owns 74% of its subsidiary WIL Car Wheels and 9.51% of Axles India . WIL's shareholders in 2018 included TVS & Sons (20.41%), Titan Europe (34.23%) and Sundaram Finance (11.08%) and Southern Roadways (9.28%).
