The Viennese magazine for art, literature, theater and fashion was an Austrian culture and fashion journal published in Vienna from 1816 to 1849 . Along with Adolf Bäuerle's Wiener Theaterzeitung, it is considered to be one of the most important Austrian cultural magazines of its time.
The magazine was founded in 1816 by Johann Schickh and Wilhelm Hebenstreit under the title Wiener Moden-Zeitung and magazine for art, beautiful literature and theater , from July 2, 1817 (No. 53) the title changed to Wiener Zeitschrift für Kunst, Literatur, Theater and fashion . In 1849 the magazine was discontinued. Punch was published as a successor magazine until 1850 . Fiction-satirical daily paper .
The magazine initially appeared twice a week, from 1818 three times, from 1840 to 1841 four times and then five times a week.
The editor was Johann Schickh until 1835 , after his death until 1844 Friedrich Witthauer , 1845 until February 1847 Gustav von Franck and afterwards until the hiring in 1849 Johann August Bachmann.
In terms of costume history, the magazine is primarily due to the numerous colored fashion illustrations. The following artists have worked as illustrators over the years:

In addition, the magazine Kulturnachrichten, theater reviews and first copies of musical and literary works appeared, including works by Ludwig van Beethoven , Franz Schubert's song Die Forelle and several short stories by Adalbert Stifter .
