Wieprz is a village with a Schulzenamt in the Radziechowy-Wieprz municipality in the Powiat Żywiecki of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is in the Saybuschen basin ( Kotlina Żywiecka ) on the right bank of the river Soła .
The neighboring towns are the city of Żywiec in the north, Trzebinia in the northeast, Juszczyna in the east, Brzuśnik and Bystra in the south and Radziechowy in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in the Liber beneficiorum dioecesis Cracoviensis (1470-1480) of the historian and geographer Jan Długosz as two villages Wyeprze Maior and Wyeprze Minor .
During the First Partition of Poland , Wieprz became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Wieprz came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Saybusch in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ).
From 1975 to 1998 Wieprz was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
