Viktor Reshetnyak ( Ukrainian Віктор Решетняк , English transcription Viktor Reshetnyak; * February 18, 1950 , † June 14, 2015 ) was a Ukrainian doctor and politician. He was Lord Mayor of Vyshhorod .

Life

Reshetnjak attended high school in Evpatoria (1965-1969) with subsequent medical studies at the Medical College-Evpatoria. From 1969 to 1971 he did military service in the Soviet Army .

From 1971 to 1977 he studied medicine at the State Medical Institute in Crimea, followed by medical studies at the University of Kiev . After his license to practice medicine he became head of the regional hospital in Vyshhorod; In 1986 he took part in the safety work of the Chernobyl reactor as a doctor in charge . In 1989 and 1990 he worked as a doctor in Ethiopia .

In April 2000 he defended his dissertation and became a candidate for medical sciences in obstetrics and gynocology . In 2000 he did a training course in the Central Hospital in Sens on the subject of hospital organization and management . From 2001 he was chief physician of Vyshhorod district and from 2002 an elected member of the regional parliament. In 2004 he was elected President of the Dobrobut Charitable Foundation and in 2005 he was appointed Honorary President of the Ukrainian Hippocrates Foundation .

In April 2006 he was elected Lord Mayor of Vyshhorod, in 2010 he was confirmed in office for another four years with 85% of the votes and remained Lord Mayor until his death. Reschetnjak cultivated intensive relationships with the twin town of Lörrach and Lord Mayor Gudrun Heute-Bluhm , whereby he was strongly committed to musical youth encounters with Lörrach-International. A special need for him was to exhume the fallen soldiers scattered around the Vyshhorod district and to bury them in a dignified manner in the Kiev military cemetery.

In 2011 he brought the Formula 1 world championship in motorboat sports to Vyshhorod and secured this venue for 2012 and 2013 as well.
