Wild World is a 1970 song by Cat Stevens that appeared on the Tea for the Tillerman album. In the spring of 1971, the single took eleventh place in the US pop charts ; on the back is Sad Lisa . The single was released just like the album on Island Records ; Paul Samwell-Smith was the producer.
In an interview with Mojo magazine , Stevens said about the making of the piece:
“The song consists of chord progressions that are typical in Spanish music. I turned the combination around and the result was a theme that I use a lot in my songs: it's about leaving, the sadness that comes from it and the idea of what might come next. "
In 1987, Jonathan King accused the Pet Shop Boys of sampling the cover of Wild World for their song It's a Sin Kings . King made claims in a column for The Sun newspaper , suing the Pet Shop Boys. At the end of the negotiation, an out-of-court settlement was reached.
