Season 1:

Season 2:

Wilde Engel is a German action series , which is about a special unit consisting of three attractive women who solve criminal cases. The concept is based on the American 1970s series Charlie's Angels and, in particular, its film adaptation of Charlie's Angels from 2000. The series was produced by action concept from 2001 to 2004 and broadcast from 2002 to 2003 and 2005 on the television channels RTL and ORF . It consists of a pilot film and twelve episodes in two seasons.

action

In the first season, the three Wild Angels fight on behalf of BKA official Martin Grossmann ( Filip Peeters ) against weapons dealers, contract killers, environmental criminals and organ robbers, among others. The protagonists Lena Heitmann ( Eva Habermann ), Christina Rabe ( Birgit Stauber ) and Franziska Borgardt ( Susann Uplegger ) meet by chance in the pilot when they are involved in a criminal case, but then join forces to fight the crime together. Because of their differences, they complement each other well. Each episode describes a new criminal case, the solution of which the Wild Angels often investigate undercover.

In season two, the team is completely new with Rebecca ( Vanessa Petruo ), Ida ( Tanja Wenzel ) and Aiko ( Zora Holt ), and the Wild Angels are no longer working for the BKA, but for the wealthy Richard Voss ( Udo Kier ) . Otherwise, the second season has little to do with the first. The main thing in the Wild Angels' orders is that an acquaintance of Richard Voss asks him for a favor in the form of a private detective activity, whereupon the three women sneak undercover into a beauty clinic, a fashion show or a sports school. They usually stumble upon the respective criminal case in the course of their research.

characters

season 1

Franziska Borgardt
The bank owner Franziska is the wealthiest of the three wild angels. She lives in a large villa and lets the other two, Lena and Rabe, live with her rent-free. She has her own house servant and chauffeur named Arnold, who occasionally assists the three women with their investigations. Franziska is very traditional and style conscious. In her villa there are numerous valuable items that once belonged to her father or grandfather and whose integrity she attaches great importance to. She really doesn't like the fact that the raven who has just moved in is tearing off her valuable wallpaper and scratching the edge of an old wooden chest of drawers when a beer bottle is opened. Because of their different origins, there are occasional little squabbles between the two of them. The upscale style of the red-haired Franziska is illustrated by her clothes - a choice of costume, dress or fur - and she also smokes cigarillos from a silver case that used to belong to her father. The Wild Angels are mostly out and about in Franziska's car. One of the running gags of the series is that her car is destroyed at least once during almost every episode.
Lena Heitmann
As the only trained police officer , Lena takes on the role of "normal" in the team of three. She comes from a respectable family. Her father is also a police officer himself and Lena sometimes uses his help in investigating the Wild Angels; occasionally he is involuntarily involved in the case. Lena's mother broke up with her father many years ago and does not appear in the series. In the squabbles between Franziska and Rabe, Lena usually has an arbitrating, mediating role. She is blonde and often appears in clothes that are unusually tight for a policewoman.
Christina Rabe
Christina, just called "Raven" by everyone, comes from a precarious milieu , which is reflected in her direct, reckless and sometimes a little rude manner. In her youth, she said she drove road races and broke some things in the process, and later became a car mechanic . Their insider knowledge in various shady scenes often helps the Wild Angels with their investigative work. Rabe is very sporty, which can be seen in fight scenes, in which she can take on men, and in stunt-like evasive maneuvers in shootings and the like. She can't do much with Franziska's upscale manner, which is why the two of them squabble over and over again, for example when it comes to the enjoyment of fast food . The dark-haired raven occasionally wears mechanic clothing, but mostly normal casual clothing and often a pirate headscarf.
Michael Grossmann
Grossmann works at the BKA and is the superior of the Wild Angels; they receive their orders from him. He calls them his best team in episode one. Grossmann meets regularly with the three women to discuss how to proceed and thus oversees their investigative work. Exactly what position Grossmann has at the BKA is not mentioned. An assistant named Susanne only appears occasionally in scenes that take place in the BKA. Little is learned about Grossmann's private circumstances either, only that he has a child for whom he is looking for a Christmas present in episode eight. At the end of each episode, when the three wild angels are just happy about the successful conclusion of the case, he regularly joins them at this very moment and congratulates the three women on their success.

season 2

Aiko
The dark-haired Aiko masters various martial arts kicks and is not only very quick-witted in duels, but also when dealing with men. She can also cook well, especially sushi .
Ida
The romantic blonde Ida falls in love with at least one suspect in every episode, which sometimes clouds her judgment. As a hacker on the PC, however, she is unbeatable and she is also very skilled at work.
Rebecca
The versatile Rebecca is also blonde and likes to play golf, but not particularly well. She always has appointments with changing men. She is also afraid of spiders.
Richard Voss
The wealthy, wheelchair dependent Voss is the client of the Wild Angels. Most of the time, the job is to do a friend a favor.

Production and characteristics

The series was shot mainly in Cologne and the surrounding area. In addition to the wealth of car chases and spectacular accidents with destroyed vehicles, explosions and other stunts typical of productions by action concept , the series primarily focuses on the attractiveness of the actresses , which is why they regularly appear in rather tight clothing. According to observers, this concept is the reason why all three actresses were replaced for the second season, regardless of their age. The actresses in the first season were 28, 30 and 33 years old at the time, the actresses in the second season 25, 26 and 29 years old.

While in the first season the action and the skimpy clothing of the actresses are embedded in a halfway realistic crime plot, in season two they become the main component of the series, making it less of a crime series than an action comedy - including numerous martial arts jump kicks shown in slow motion Hot pants . The locations - a beauty farm , a fashion show and a sports school - are also chosen so that the actresses can be presented in the most attractive and skimpy clothing possible. The production company action concept describes the concept of the second season as follows: “ The three heavenly sweet friends show that investigation can also be sexy: brimming with spectacular body action, fast car chases and humor. "

Title reference in the series

The three women are never directly called "Wild Angels" in the first season. However, the title is alluded to three times. At the beginning of the first episode, Franziska is shot and briefly passed out. When she wakes up again and sees Lena bent over her, she asks her: "Are you an angel?" In episode six, a traitor from the ranks of the BKA describes the team to an accomplice as "Grossmann und seine Engel". And when Grossmann sees at the end of the last episode of the first season that the three women have got him a rare toy figure as a Christmas present for his child, and his assistant asks him where he got the figure from, he says: “From three wonderful ones Angels. "

In the second season, on the other hand, the client Voss regularly greets the three women with “Hello Angel”, to which they respond in unison with “Hello Richard”. In addition, at the beginning of the first episode, the three are disguised as angels while presenting a new perfume.

Opening credits

The opening sequence of each episode is followed by the opening credits. In the first season it has the following wording:

“Three women - beautiful, fast and dangerous.
Three women undercover for the BKA.
Three women - one team.
They are wild angels. "

A completely new opening credits were used for the second season. The text is spoken by the client of the Wild Angels, Richard Voss. This is followed by an adaptation of the song Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel by Bro'Sis . The text spoken by Richard Voss reads as follows:

“Your orders are top secret, your
methods are unbeatable.
Hallelujah! "
