Wilfred Paiement (born October 16, 1955 in Earlton Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who worked for the Kansas City Scouts , Colorado Rockies , Toronto Maple Leafs , Nordiques de Québec , New York Rangers , Buffalo Sabers and Pittsburgh Penguins have played in the National Hockey League .
Career
Wilf Paiement began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey Association , in which he was active from 1971 to 1974 for the Niagara Falls Flyers and St. Catharines Black Hawks . He was then selected in the first round of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft as a total of second player by the Kansas City Scouts , for whom he played in the National Hockey League in the following two years . After the Scouts were relocated, the winger received a contract with their successor team Colorado Rockies . In these he was one of the leading players and took part in the NHL All-Star Game three times before he was given to the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 29, 1979 together with Pat Hickey in exchange for Lanny McDonald and Joel Quenneville . With the Canadians he was also one of the team's internal top scorers.
Towards the end of the 1981/82 season Paiement was given to the Nordiques de Québec , for which he played for four years across the seasons before he was transferred to the New York Rangers on February 6, 1986 in exchange for Steve Patrick . For the Rangers he scored 17 scorer points in a total of 24 games by the end of the season, including six goals. After a season with the Buffalo Sabers , he signed a contract as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the 1987/88 season , for which he scored two goals and made six assists in 23 games in the NHL. He also played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks a total of 33 games in the International Hockey League , where he scored 37 scorer points, including 17 goals. Following the season, he ended his career at the age of 32. In 2001 he took part in the Heroes of Hockey Game for the Colorado Heroes of Hockey .
International
For Canada , Paiement took part in the 1977 , 1978 and 1979 World Championships . At the 1978 World Cup he won the bronze medal with his team, and at the 1979 World Cup he was voted the best striker of the tournament together with Sergei Makarov .
