Stephen "Steve" Gary Patrick Jr. (born February 4, 1961 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . From 1980 to 1986, the right winger completed 250 games for the Buffalo Sabers , New York Rangers and Nordiques de Québec in the National Hockey League .
Career
Steve Patrick played in his youth for the St. James Canadians in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League , before moving to the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Western Hockey League (WHL) during the 1978/79 season and with the team at the end of the Playing time won the playoffs for the President's Cup . In the 1979/80 season, the attacker came to 66 points scorer in 71 games and was then selected in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft in 20th position by the Buffalo Sabers . For the time being, however, Patrick returned to the Wheat Kings and came up with a points average of well over 1.0 before he made his debut for the Sabers in the National Hockey League (NHL) in November 1980 .
In total, Patrick spent almost four years in the organization of the Buffalo Sabers, mainly in the NHL and occasionally with the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League (AHL). In December 1984 the Sabers gave it to the New York Rangers along with Jim Wiemer and received Chris Renaud and Dave Maloney in return . In New York, however, the Canadian was only active for a little more than a year until the Rangers gave him in February 1986 in exchange for Wilf Paiement to the Nordiques de Québec . Patrick finished his season in Québec before announcing the end of his playing career in September 1986 and joining his father's company, which was in the real estate business and which he later took over.
Patrick completed a total of 250 NHL games and got 108 points scorer. He is an honored member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame .

family
His son Nolan Patrick is and his younger brother James Patrick was also a professional ice hockey player. His father Stephen Patrick played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League and later was a member of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly .
However , he is not related to the "Patrick" family around Lester , Lynn and Craig Patrick , also known from the NHL .
