Wilfried Fitting

Wilfried-Markus Fitting (born December 31, 1919 in Bonn ; † June 3, 2012 in Cologne ) was a German internist and university professor .

Life

Wilfried Fitting, the son of the botanist Johannes Fitting and Sigrid née Meyer, did his labor and military service after graduating from high school . He then turned to studying medicine at the universities of Bonn , Strasbourg and Tübingen , in 1948 he passed the state examination, and in the following year he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD .

As a result, Fitting completed his clinical training at the Medical and Surgical Clinic of the University of Bonn, and in 1955 he was recognized as a specialist in internal diseases by the North Rhine Medical Association . In 1958 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer for internal medicine in Bonn, where he was promoted to extraordinary professor in 1965 . In 1961 he was appointed director of the medical clinic at the Evangelical Hospital Weyertal in Cologne , and in 1975 he was also appointed medical director.

After his retirement in 1985, he was appointed by the board of directors of the North Rhine Medical Association, to which he had temporarily belonged, as an honorary deputy member for the field of internal medicine in the expert commission for medical treatment errors at the North Rhine Medical Association; a short time later he became deputy managing director Member appointed. From 1987 to 1996 he continued to function as a managing committee member.

Wilfried Fitting, author of numerous specialist publications, particularly in the fields of hematology , endocrinology and iodine metabolism, was awarded the Paracelsus Medal of the German Medical Association in 1997 in recognition of his scientific achievements and for his services to the expert field in Germany .

Wilfried Fitting married Gisela, nee Vorster, in 1957. He died in 2012 at the age of 92. Wilfried Fitting was the grandson of the legal scholar Hermann Fitting .
