Wilhelm Baumann (teacher)

Wilhelm Baumann (born September 15, 1895 in Munich , † October 3, 1982 in Starnberg ) was a German teacher.

Baumann attended elementary school and the teacher training institute. In 1913 he began as a school intern at the Raitenhaslach elementary school . In 1916 he began as a temporary teacher at several elementary schools. A year later he passed the public school service exam, and in 1920 he was finally appointed a teacher. He was active in this profession until 1930, as well as several commercial and agricultural vocational schools. From the 1920s to 1933 he was the first chairman of the working group for young teachers in Upper Bavaria and Bavaria, and he was also a member of the main committee of the Bavarian teachers 'association and the main school policy center of the German teachers' association . During this time he studied education at the University of Munich . In 1930 he became district senior teacher and head of the Berchtesgaden training district, and a year later he became the main teacher. In 1933 he was taken into protective custody and removed from the position of head of training. After he also worked as a soldier in World War II , he became a school councilor for the Starnberg and Fürstenfeldbruck districts in May 1945 . In the same year he was appointed government school councilor in the government of Upper Bavaria and head of the school department, and a year later he was appointed government director in the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture . From 1947 onwards he worked at the Starnberg School Authority , one year later in the school inspectorate until he retired in 1960.

Baumann founded the regional association of Bavarian school councils, of which he was chairman until 1955. In 1951 he was a founding member of the Education and Science Union, and in 1965 he became its honorary chairman. He was also a member of the school policy main office of the Working Group of German Teachers' Associations and the school policy committee as well as the regional school advisory board of the DGB , as well as the advisory board of the Academy for Political Education . From 1956 to 1967 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate .

On January 13, 1964, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
