Wilhelm Bornstedt

Wilhelm Bornstedt (born August 16, 1905 in Braunschweig ; † March 28, 1987 there ) was a German grammar school teacher and from 1974 to 1983 the city ​​administrator of Braunschweig.

Life

Bornstedt studied geography, geology and ethnology at the Universities of Marburg , Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg with a subsequent doctorate. He joined the NSDAP and the SS in 1933 and worked as a Gau clerk in the NSLB 's Office for Education . In 1938 and 1939 Bornstedt published three articles in the SS-Leithefte . From 1939 to 1980 he worked as a high school teacher in Braunschweig. From 1964 to 1974 Bornstedt was the commissioner for the preservation of monuments and district history of the Braunschweig district and from 1974 to 1983 city home keeper and at the same time home keeper of Stöckheim . He reorganized home care and set up the home care group .

Bornstedt was awarded the Lower Saxony Order of Merit in 1980 for his services to research into regional history and was appointed to the Historical Commission for Lower Saxony and Bremen in 1981 . His chronicles of Stöckheim and Rüningen were groundbreaking. He campaigned for the preservation of the village centers and was able to inspire new citizens for the history of their communities and thus also for home care.

In honor of Wilhelm Bornstedt, a path in Stöckheim was named after him.
