Wilhelm Deinhardt

Wilhelm Deinhardt (born May 31, 1904 in Gunzenhausen ; † February 4, 1938 in Würzburg ) was a German church historian , Roman Catholic theologian and university professor .

Life

Deinhardt was born in Gunzenhausen in Central Franconia in 1904 . After graduating from high school in 1922, he began studying theology and philosophy in Bamberg and Munich, where he received his doctorate on the subject of Jansenism in Germany . He was a member of the KDSt.V. Fredericia to Bamberg . On October 10, 1926, he was ordained a Catholic priest in Eichstätt (according to other sources in Bamberg) . From October 17, 1926 to April 14, 1927 he was a cooperator in Wattendorf . From September 1, 1927, he was chaplain in Seßlach , and from May 1, 1928 chaplain in St. Joseph's Church in Nuremberg . From 1929 to 1932 he was prefect at the Freiherrlichen von Aufseesschen study seminar in Bamberg . From 1933 he took up an academic teaching position in Würzburg . From 1937 he held the chair for church history there. Deinhardt died in Würzburg in 1938 at the age of 34.

His estate is kept in the Diocesan Archives of Würzburg and in the archives of the Archdiocese of Bamberg .

Deinhardt wrote several writings on church history and several articles for the Lexicon for Theology and Church .
